Our last post meeting was held at the Music City Sheraton. Our VFW state convention was very successful with a new slate of state officers elected by the state membership.
Our state commander is Ken Miller Sweetwater Tn, Sr. Vice Commander Charles Cassidy, Linden Tn Jr. Vice Commander Randy Durham, Millington, Tn, Judge Advocate Harry Carroll Knoxville, Tn and State Surgeon, Bill Crawford Post 2120 White House Tn.
The White House post had 13 members present and Eric submitted a new application for membership to bring the post to 200% of membership and the ALL AMERICAN POST AWARD. The post also won the Captain of the All State Commanders Team for Quartermaster.
Comrade Lanny Smith has donated his hooch for our meetings, football games or other activities we may have. We are very appreciated to Linda and Lanny Smith for contributing to the success of this post. We will start our construction for the new
Head, latrine, or bathroom on Wednesday July 14, 2010 and will need volunteers. Please call Lanny at 615-456-9419 to get all information. Thank you to the Smith family.
The Annual Trash and Treasures was held in Cross Plains June 25, 26, 2010. Our Post was well represented with members attending and “Uncle Bob from Cleveland attended again. Our friend Tom Murdock also gave of his
entire day and we thank all of you who attended for your support. The post made over $800.00 and this will be used for our VFW programs. Mr. Ralph Mitchell a member of our post donated engraved penknives for the Trash and Treasure. We thank him for his donation. The post also contributed $150.00 to the National Military Services VFW for the programs they support for our veterans and families.
The National Military Services will provide a grant up to $2500.00 in support of returning troops.
We would like to visit the Springfield Armory and see what we can do to support our returning service members. This will be discussed at our next meeting July 17, 2010, 0930 at the “HOOCH”
The Commander will be attending the “Flying Squadron” training session in Nashville on this date. If there are any members who would like to attend with him please call 615-483-1604.
We welcome a new member Jimmy Stark from Cross Plains into our post. Jimmy will be a big asset for us in the Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen programs in our schools. This program will kick off in early September. We will need to nominate a teacher of the year, and collect essays from students to compete for a scholarship. As you can see we have a full program. We need chairman for all these different programs
And will need your help in the coming year. If you know of any member in distress or are confined to a home or hospital please call our chaplain Jimmy Lee at 615-681-5443.
We have received the official Charter from National Headquarters. Our Post is officially named CPL Clifton East Smith Sr. VFW Post 2120 White House Tn. We will have a dedication during September. Thank You for all you do and have done for America’s Veterans.
